Veggie Garden

We're giving it a shot this year, so we'll see if she grows. We figure it will save us a TON of money if everything grows.

My grandpa Billau always has a vegetable garden and when I used to stay with them in the summers growing up, I always thought it was so cool. So I knew that when I had my own house, I wanted to keep up the tradition and plant my very own garden. Thanks grandpa for the inspiration and everything you taught me (even if you thought I wasn't paying attention). Every time I go out there to tend or to water, I think of him and am reminded, again, what a great childhood I had and what a great experience my grandparents gave me when I would stay with them. I love them so much.

We planted: Corn, green beans, lettuce, green and yellow bell peppers, jalapeno, big boy tomatoes, sweet 100 tomatoes, cucumber, squash, strawberries, chives, basil, parsley, chives and cilantro...

Snuggie

Phil's parents got all of the "kids" a Snuggie...yup. Phil loves it and I love what it does to Savannah's hair. :)

Kitchen Lighting

A while back, I posted pictures of our kitchen and some of the changes that we made, but I thought I'd add detail pictures of the lighting...

We ripped out the broken florescent lighting that was up
in the ceiling and added can lights, textured, painted and added the molding.

We added a pendant light above the kitchen sink...

Here's a before as a reminder...

Spring beauty

I love tulips and thought they would look beautiful this spring on our window separated in little vases instead of putting them all in one big vase.

Sunshine and lizards

Elijah's big boy bike
(yes, our backyard is all weeds...I like to think of it as
pretend grass...at least there's a little green out there)

The picture below is one that Elijah took of the lizard's tail.
I thought it was artsy and really beautiful.

Better late than never

So Savannah's birthday was on the 6th. I know, I'm a little late, but better late than never right?!

She started walking about 2 weeks before her birthday and is all over the house now. She loves to try to climb and is beginning to say a few words and tell us what cows, cats, sheep and elephants say. She's adventurous and not timid about trying something new. She's opinionated and will definitely let us know her true feelings about things. She cracks us up and definitely gives us a run for our money at times.

We're still in shock that we have a one year old and a three year old. This last year with Savannah went so quickly...

Conversations with Elijah

Here are a couple of interesting conversations I had with my son today:

(We're looking at pictures of friends on the computer)

E: That's Macy.
H: Yup!
E: And Cameron.
H: That's right.
E: I know!
H: What do you know?
E: Come here, I'll tell you, its a secret.
H: (laughing) OK. (I lean over so he can whisper in my ear)
E: (whispering) Jon and Carly can come over. Cameron and Macy can come to church with us and Jon and Carly can come to my school. Cameron's nice!
H: Oh, ok. Maybe we'll see Jon and Carly and Macy and Cameron soon.
E: And they can come to my class.
H: Sure. Maybe.

(I liked that he had to whisper the whole thing!)

Conversation #2

Elijah's supposed to be taking a nap but I hear him playing so I go in to take care of the situation...

E: Mom!
H: You're supposed to be taking a nap.
E: You know what?
H: What?
E: There's four cows, three aligators and some monsters. I tell Jesus that he come here and take them away.
H: Oh, do those animals scare you?
E: (not answering my question...clearly in his own world) Let's go see him.
H: Who? Jesus?
E: Yes. Where is he?
H: Up in heaven, really high up in the sky.
E: Wow.
H: Yeah. We'll get to see him some day when we go to heaven.
E: I know. (This seems to be his favorite way to introduce a new idea)
H: What? (getting a little frustrated that this conversation is still going on...I'm supposed to be working and he's supposed to be sleeping...why are we still talking)
E: I'll get a airplane and we'll fly way (waving his hands all around above his head) up in the sky and go see him.
H: Do you think that would work?
E: Yup.
H: Hmmm...I don't know. But we can talk to him if you want. We talk to Jesus when we pray.
E: Ok. (lays down and closes his eyes and waves me off)
H: Have a good nap buddy.
